While you can bring wrapped gifts through the checkpoint, TSA officers may have to unwrap a gift to take a closer look inside. Be prepared to declare them at the security checkpoint for inspection. Prescriptions and over-the—counter medicines in liquid, gel and aerosol form can also be carried onto airplanes and may not be subject to the rule.
The following is a list of sharp objects, sporting equipment, and tools which the TSA prohibits you from carrying aboard an aircraft. These items may be transported in checked luggage. Pack them in your carry on as you wish. Disposable razors and their cartridges are the only types of razors permitted in your carry-on luggage. Razor-type blades, such as box cutters, utility knives, and safety razor blades, are only allowed in checked luggage.
You may also carry nail clippers and nail scissors with blades shorter than 4 inches. If you need batteries for a toothbrush, razor or other item, these are allowed in your carry-on luggage. Each traveler is allowed one 1-quart plastic bag for liquids and gels.
